Emma Melia
Dr Emma Melia is Project Manager for Advanced Materials as part of the Science City Research Alliance between the Universities of Warwick and Birmingham, an £8.6 M initiative investing in state of the art scientific research and infrastructure to facilitate engagement with regional and international businesses. Her role includes delivering and evidencing contractual outputs through a network of over 45 academic staff as well as project performance management and reporting to key stakeholders including regional funders, senior academics, universities management and delivery staff.
Prior to her current role, Emma was involved in developing business support for local start-up companies and SMEs through the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative led by Coventry City Council. She has experience of intellectual property protection and commercialisation of academic research having worked as a Medici Fellow in a university technology transfer office.
Her interests include policy and strategy in higher education and research. She is a member of the Management Team for the Coventry Chapter of Global Leadership Interlink. She has a Ph.D in Polymer Chemistry and a B.Sc. in Chemistry both from the University of Warwick.
